The spectacular reunion in St Moritz, which is happening thanks to Thomas Barth, is the main event of this year’s FoB reunion.
But many of you have expressed an interest in also paying a visit to our old “home” in Bluche and Crans-Montana. Due to this popular demand, we have organized an option for an extended reunion of a few days in Crans-Montana.
If you want to take part in this extended reunion, please book ASAP but latest by June 15, 2024 using this registration form.
Monday September 16
Transfer from St. Moritz to Crans-Montana
Getting to Crans-Montana will be a memorable experience in itself, as we will take the famous Glacier Express from St Moritz to Brig.
We will leave St Moritz at 8:51 and arrive in Brig at 15:40 (schedule to be confirmed). The train journey will take 6h 49m and will include lunch on board. Here is a description from the 5-things-to-know-about-the-glacier-express website.
The Glacier Express is often referred to as the “slowest express train in the world,” and for good reason. The train takes around eight hours to travel from St. Moritz to Zermatt, covering a distance of 180 miles.
But the leisurely pace is part of the charm, as it allows you to take in the stunning scenery at a relaxed pace. The train passes through 91 tunnels and over 291 bridges, as it winds its way through the Swiss Alps, offering views of snow-capped peaks, deep valleys, and picturesque villages along the way.
We will organize the booking of the train (CHF 250.- incl. lunch) for everyone who has registered for this part of the extended reunion by June 15. The tickets are only available 93 days before the travel date, which will be June 15 for our trip on September 16.
Our trip will be one hour shorter than the eight hours from St Moritz to Zermatt since we will get off at Brig, one stop before Zermatt. From Brig we will take a chartered bus for the one-hour drive to Crans-Montana.
Upon arrival in Crans-Montana, we will check into our hotels. You will have to book your own hotels. Scroll to the bottom of this page for our suggestions.
In the evening, you will be free to have an apéro and dinner at your hotels or meet at one of the restaurants in Crans-Montana.
Tuesday September 17
Petite Promenade to Bluche and Les Roches
In the morning we will make a leisurely promenade down to Bluche.
In Bluche, we will make a visit to our old school, now known as the Les Roches Hotel Management School. We will be hosted by Sally Mayor-Reichner, who was a student at Les Roches from 1962 to 1965. She has been a Campus Counselor at Les Roches since 2005.
We will have lunch at the school, followed by a guided tour of the school. There will also be an opportunity to participate in one or more workshops in activities such as cocktails, sushi, and napkin folding.
Note that “Les Roches” is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year! Mr. Francis Clivaz (aged 92!), has been invited to join and welcome us on the occasion of our visit. It would be splendid if many of you could be there!
We will finish the afternoon with an apéritif at the school or at Petit Paradis. Then we will take the funicular back up to Crans-Montana.
In the evening, there will be individual dinners – at Petit Paradis if you want to stay a bit longer in Bluche – or elsewhere in Crans-Montana.
Wednesday September 18
Excursions in Crans-Montana
You will have a choice of possible excursions.
For those who are interested, we will organize a trip up to Plumachit (via bus SMC). We will have lunch at the Alpage de Colombire, followed by a guided visit of the Ecomuseum. To get back to town, you can take the bus again or walk down along the Bisse du Tsittoret (5.5km / 1h 15m).
But others may be tempted by other classic Crans-Montana activities:
- Golfing at Golf Club Crans-sur-Sierre (tee time reservation online)
- Mountain biking, click here for bike rental
For our last evening, we will organize a soirée fondue/raclette. Location TBD.
Thursday September 19
End of the extended reunion in Crans-Montana
Check out of your hotels and begin your individual journeys home or to your next destination.
Or not – you are welcome to stay in Crans-Montana for as long as you want!
