FOB NEWS AROUND THE WORLD (the years attended EDR are given when known)

Alain Broders – lives in Paris, where he works as a scriptwriter and adds that his life is like a film. He has a son Pablo, aged six but due to his work deadlines was unable to write further details.
Karen Bronner Freeman – works as a computer software writer for Dunkin Donuts in their corporate office in Massachusetts. Rory Campbell (A’69-70) – has moved to San Rafael, California where he and his family have spent the last ten months trying to fix up their “new” house, which is 90 years old and counts as a National Historic Landmark despite its relative youth. His children, Kate and Arkin, aged nine and seven respectively are pursuing gymnastics, riding, swimming and soccer. Dad acts as coach for the soccer team.
John Dennison (A’72-73) – recently met Martha Fouts through a business connection of hers, although the two of them were not at EDR at the same time. John is living in Portland, Maine where he is a commercial diver for sea urchins that are exported to Japan. He is also the publisher of a newsletter for the budding U.S. urchin business called “Whore’s Egg News,” which is apparently what the lobster trappers call sea urchins when they find their way into their lobster pots….
Sebastian Nicolas Giaimo (F ’66-71) – has left the United States, where he was practicing medicine, to return to his native Peru to assist his family with their import/export business, Cold Import, S.A. (Refrigeration/Air Conditioning). The company is the leader in this field in Peru, and Sebastian travels extensively in his position. He tries to arrange trips whereby his
family can accompany him. He and his wife, Veronica, have two sons, Stefano and Sebastian, aged ten and eleven respectively.
Steve Gibson (A’73) – has apparently mellowed out over the years and entertained his classmates at the Tripoli reunion by talking about his ‘fighting days’. Today, Steve is a computer programmer.
Carolyn Gillespie Mayor (A’73) – roomed with Sharon Taylor Baumann this past summer at the Tripoli reunion, just like they did their first year at PF (along with Bonnie Van Noord and Laura Mills Akhavan). Carolyn has recently moved to Macon, Georgia and apparently still looks the same!
Christina Hall (A’75) – works as a computer consultant in New York City, where her expertise is in e-mail systems.
Patsy Hall (A’73) – founded her own investment banking firm, Hallmark Capital, three years ago in New York City. She handles the private placement of debt and equity, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
Mark Hammon ( A’75-77) – has been living in London for the past twelve years, where he has his own import/export company dealing primarily with the exportation of German cars to South Africa, China, and other parts of Southeast Asia. Mark and his wife Lorraine have three children, Sabrina, Mark and Jessica.
Kathi Hood Stanton (A’69-72) – works as a registered nurse in a local doctor’s office. As the doctor is a general practitioner and they draw from a wide area, they are extremely busy all the time.
Gunnar Hornsten (L’73-74) – recently moved to the very south of Sweden, with his wife, Monica, and her two sons, Jens and Jonas. Gunnar is an associate professor and program coordinator at the Biotechnology Research Foundation. His responsibilities include facilitating cooperation between industry and the academia on various research projects. In his spare time, Gunnar writes that his focus is more on humanities than on science, but that his “list of interests is as long as a book, and I constantly try to read more than one page.”
Katy Jackson Cantor (A’71 -75) – and her daughters, Courtney and Abby, recently surprised father/husband, Dan, on his 40th birthday by presenting him with forty gifts! Then, Katy and Dan, flew to New York City to spend a romantic weekend.
Russell James (A’69-70) – lives in Washington, DC, where he enjoys coffee klatches with Margaret Mallon.
Pradeep Kapadia (A’69-72) – convinced Ross Povenmire to take the time off from his law school studies to run the New York marathon, which they successfully completed together. Ross, not the retiring type, was elected class representative to the student government, is on a committee to invite guest speakers to the law school and has started a “Men’s Issues Discussion Group.” In between, Ross manages to study, sleep a little, continue his devotion to his son, Asa, and still keep active as our coordinator for the Americas! Whew!!
Jeff Lawyer (A’73)- lives in Houston, where he and his wife are expecting their first child. Jeff owns two clubs, and graciously took the Tripoli reunion folks to one of them. Several of them learned to line dance as well as dance the two-step at Jeff’s popular country western location.
Debra Minogue Duke (A’73) – was in Turkey on vacation this past summer and then held a surprise 40th birthday party for her husband, Rick in September. They are in the process of buying a place in Vail, Colorado.
Cornel Navori (A’71 -75) – has recently married and moved to Siesta Key, Florida. His wife, Kay, is working for Subaru on the auto show circuit. Cornel is a sous chef at a local restaurant until he attends the New England Culinary School in Burlington, Vermont, in February 1996.
Eric Rhein (A’68-70) – is still playing the drums, in addition to his full time job in the catering business. He participated in Mike Wilhelm’s (formerly of the Charlatans) solo album “Mean Ole Frisco,” was a musician playing conga during a San Francisco “love” generation gathering sequence in the movie 1968 and just last year was one of two drummers playing Grateful Dead covers in a band called “Groove Kitchen.” This past August Eric was in the Honduras, Costa Rica, and Belize, where he enjoyed taking underwater photographs while scuba diving. Eric reports that Costa Rica is great “ecotouring.”
Laurie Rodarty Ehrich (A’73) – attended the Tripoli reunion with her husband and baby daughter of ten months Laurie is apparently just as full of life as ever.
Dale Scott (A’73) – who has done so much to organize the Tripoli reunions (of all the oil company folks who lived in Tripoli, Libya), organized a special dinner for the Class of ’73 during the reunion this past summer in Houston. In fact, it seems that his class ended up spending most of the time together as a group. Dale owns a travel agency in Tucson, Arizona, where he is bringing up his son, Luke.
Tom Solitario (A’72-74) – was passing through Aspen, Colorado recently when he decided to look up Mark Uhlfelder’s parents only to discover that Mark and his wife, Anne, are now living there! They had sold their house in Washington, DC, to resettle in the Rockies, where Mark has formed a company with Aspen Ski Tours called Rocky Mountain Bicycle Vacations, which features biking as a summer focus for tourism. Anne is in the human resources department at the Little Nell Hotel, which is owned by the Aspen Skiing Corporation so she and Mark both benefit from free ski passes.
Jonathan Tappan – is an electrical engineer for an aerospace company in Tucson, Arizona. In his spare time, Jonathan flies gliders, ultralights, and scuba dives in the Sea of Cortez. He enjoys underwater photography and videography, and has produced two films for local public access TV, one on soaring, and the other on diving in Hawaii. He also plays the guitar and was in a barbershop quartet
Bonnie Van Noord (A’73) and her husband, Rick Barnes – both EDR alumni, now live in Tampa, Florida, where Rick is a CPA and Bonnie works for Air Canada. Bonnie would like for them to have another overseas assignment in England, which they are actively pursuing. They have two children, a daughter (thirteen) who was born in England and a son (ten).
